KOIN-CBS
KOIN has a long history of awards and recognition. In 2004 the station was awarded an International Health and Medical Award for “Everybody Has a Story: Caring for Our Aging Parents.” It also received the 2004 Red Cross Pacific Region’s “Media Partner of the Year.” In 2002 the station was a finalist for a National Emmy Award for Community Service. In 1998 and 1999 the station was awarded consecutive Television Station of the Year awards by the Oregon Association of Broadcasters. KOIN has also received numerous Emmy, Telly, BDA and AP Awards for news and marketing excellence.
WIAT-CBS 42
WIAT – CBS 42 has achieved tremendous growth over the past four years culminating in the November 2007 Nielsen rating period during which CBS 42 attained the highest ratings in station history. In addition to the amazing growth, CBS 42 was recently honored by the Alabama Broadcaster’s Association with six awards in the “2007 Large Market Television Category.” These include: Best Commercial Production, Best Station Promotion, Best Public Service Announcement, Best Feature Story, Best Reporter, and Service Project of the Year. In addition, the Associated Press bestowed Best Feature Story and Best Web-journalism honors to CBS 42.
KSNW
KSNW has a long history of award-winning news and community affairs coverage. To date, the station and its dedicated staff have received 18 Heartland Emmy awards. The station won these awards for a variety of coverage, including: the capture of a dangerous tornado on videotape as drivers sought shelter under an overpass. KSNW and its satellite stations have received 17 Kansas Association of Broadcasters awards since 2002. Highlights include: the station’s coverage of the tornado that leveled the town of Greensburg, KS, and a telethon to help the survivors of that same tornado. The telethon raised more than $300,000 and reached an international audience via streaming video on the station’s website.
KHON
KHON has been the number one news station in Hawaii for 20+ years. The station has won numerous awards including in 2007 a Regional Edward R. Murrow Award from the Radio and Television News Directors Association. In 2007 the station’s Gina Mangieri won the Hawaii Medical Association’s Medical Reporter of the Year. In 2006 KHON won an Excellence in Journalism Award from the in Journalism Award. The station has also won numerous times for Hawaii’s favorite newscast, news team and individual newscasters in the Honolulu Advertisers and the Star Bulletin’s reader’s polls.
WJCL - ABC 22
WJCL has been broadcasting to the Savannah, GA community since 1970. After being the first station in Savannah to broadcast in stereo, in color, and the first station with live remote equipment, WJCL was awarded by the Georgia Association of Broadcasters the Television Station of the Year Award in 1985. WJCL has also been recognized with numerous ADDY and TELLY awards for commercial spot production and promotion.
WKBN/WYFX-CBS/FOX
For the past 13 years, WKBN has worked to make a difference in the lives of the people in the Youngstown, Ohio community. WKBN has awarded thousands of dollars to local students participating in the annual Tom Holden Memorial Scholarship.
KSNT
27 News is celebrating 40 years of serving viewers in Northeast Kansas. 27 News is committed to providing its viewers with "Complete Local Coverage." Delivering comprehensive news does this, weather and sports coverage and covering those stories from start to finish. With the use of Live Precision Doppler, the 27 News First Warning Weather Team is able to keep viewers informed with the most up-to-date information during severe weather. The station is committed to sponsoring several community events such as Light the Night, Project Topeka and Emergency Services Showcase. 27 News regularly wins Kansas Association of Broadcasters (KAB) awards and most recently won 2007 1st Place Prime Newscast. In addition, the on-air personalities are often recognized in the local newspaper's annual "Best of Topeka" section.
